- United Nations (UN) reimposed a wide range of sanctions against Iran that were lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
- The sanctions were "snapped back" into place after Iran's alleged violations of its nuclear commitments.
