India issued a warning regarding Pakistan's activities in Sir Creek, located in Gujarat / ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਗੁਜਰਾਤ 'ਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਸਰ ਕ੍ਰੀਕ 'ਚ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ
- Location and geography: Sir Creek is a 96-km tidal estuary in the uninhabited marshlands of the Rann of Kutch, flowing into the Arabian Sea.
- It separates Gujarat from Pakistan's Sindh province.
- Conflicting claims: The dispute, which dates back to 1914, revolves around where to draw the maritime boundary.
- India's position: India claims the boundary should run through the middle of the creek, based on the Thalweg Principle of international law for navigable waters.
- Pakistan's position: Pakistan asserts that the boundary lies along the eastern bank, arguing the creek is not navigable and the Thalweg Principle does not apply.
- Following reports of Pakistan increasing its military presence in the disputed Sir Creek region, India issued a stern warning against any "misadventure" during a high-level address on October 2, 2025.
