2nd Anti-Submarine Warfare Craft Launched In Kolkata / ਦੂਜਾ ਐਂਟੀ-ਪਣਡੁੱਬੀ ਯੁੱਧ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਕੋਲਕਾਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਂਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ
- ‘Androth’ , second of the eight ASW SWCs (Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft), being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, was delivered to the Indian Navy on 13 Sep 2025 at GRSE, Kolkata .
- These ships at approx 77 m length, are the largest Indian Naval warships propelled by a Diesel Engine-Waterjet combination.
- The name ‘Androth’ holds strategic and symbolic significance, derived from the Androth Island in the Lakshadweep archipelago, underscoring India’s commitment to safeguarding its vast maritime territories.

ਕੋਲਕਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਗਾਰਡਨ ਰੀਚ ਸ਼ਿਪਬਿਲਡਰਸ ਐਂਡ ਇੰਜੀਨੀਅਰਸ (ਜੀਆਰਐੱਸਈ) ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਣਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਅੱਠ ਏਐੱਸਡਬਲਿਊ ਐੱਸਡਬਲਿਊਸੀ (ਐਂਟੀ ਪਣਡੁੱਬੀ ਵਾਰਫੇਅਰ ਸ਼ੈਲੋ ਵਾਟਰ ਕ੍ਰਾਫਟ) ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੂਜਾ 'ਐਂਡਰੋਥ' 13 ਸਤੰਬਰ 2025 ਨੂੰ ਜੀਆਰਐੱਸਈ, ਕੋਲਕਾਤਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਲ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਲਗਭਗ 77 ਮੀਟਰ ਲੰਬਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਇਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ ਇੰਜਣ-ਵਾਟਰਜੈੱਟ ਸੁਮੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਚਾਲਿਤ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਲ ਸੈਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਜੰਗੀ ਬੇੜੇ ਹਨ।

'ਐਂਡਰੋਥ' ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਣਨੀਤਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਾਤਮਕ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਲਕਸ਼ਦ੍ਵੀਪ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਐਂਡਰੋਥ ਟਾਪੂ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਸਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੇਖਾਂਕਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
