  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the reappointment of C.S. Rajan as the part-time Chairman of Kotak Mahindra Bank.
  • His new term is effective from January 1, 2026, and will continue until October 21, 2027.
  • ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਬੈਂਕ (ਆਰਬੀਆਈ) ਨੇ ਸੀਐਸ ਰਾਜਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਟਕ ਮਹਿੰਦਰਾ ਬੈਂਕ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਟ-ਟਾਈਮ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

Justice Ranjana Desai appointed as Chairperson of the 8th Pay Commission / ਜਸਟਿਸ ਰੰਜਨਾ ਦੇਸਾਈ ਨੂੰ 8ਵੇਂ ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਚੇਅਰਪਰਸਨ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ

  • Timeline: The commission has 18 months from its constitution to submit its recommendations to the government.
  •  Its recommendations will impact the salaries, allowances, and pensions of nearly 50 lakh central government employees and 69 lakh pensioners.
  • Expected implementation: Changes are likely to be effective from January 1, 2026. Justice Desai is a former judge of the Supreme Court of India.
  • Previous roles: She has previously chaired other significant committees, including the Delimitation Commission for Jammu and Kashmir and Uniform Civil Code committees in Uttarakhand and Gujarat.

ਜਸਟਿਸ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਕਾਂਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ 53ਵੇਂ ਚੀਫ਼ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਬਣਨਗੇ

  • According to the recommendation made by the current Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai, Justice Surya Kant is set to become the 53rd Chief Justice of India.
  • The appointment is expected to take effect on November 24, 2025.
  • Tenure: His term as Chief Justice is expected to last for approximately 15 months, until his retirement on February 9, 2027.
  • Upon taking office, he will become the first Chief Justice of India to hail from Haryana.
  • During his judicial career, he has been part of several significant rulings, including: The 2023 verdict that upheld the abrogation of Article 370.

  • Union Minister for Defence Rajnath Singh and Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi conferred the Honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army upon star javelin thrower and two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra during the pipping ceremony in South Block, New Delhi.
  • Neeraj created history by winning India’s first-ever Olympic gold medal in athletics in the men’s javelin throw competition at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
  • He continued his stellar performance by winning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024 and a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in 2023.

  • The appointment marks a major acknowledgment of India's growing expertise in global intellectual property (IP) jurisprudence.
