  • The State Bank of India (SBI) achieved a historic dual milestone in November 2025, following the announcement of its Q2 FY26 financial results:
  • It places SBI in an elite group of Indian companies with a valuation exceeding $100 billion, alongside Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and TCS.
  • Market Capitalization: SBI became the first public sector bank (PSB) in India to cross the $100 Billion (USD) market capitalization mark.
  • Total Business: Its total business (the sum of deposits and advances/loans) surpassed ₹100 Lakh Crore (₹100 Trillion) for the first time.

  • According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) latest census on foreign liabilities and assets (FLA) for FY 2024-25:
  • By market value of total FDI equity capital,
  • 1.USA was the top contributor, accounting for 20%
  • 2.Singapore (14.3%)
  • 3.Mauritius (13.3%)
  • By face value, or in terms of annual FDI inflows during the fiscal year,
  • 1.Singapore was the leading source country, contributing 30%, followed by
  • 2.Mauritius (17%)
  • 3.USA (11%).

Department of Telecommunications launched the pilot project of 'Samriddhi Gram Physical Services' in rural areas of three states

  • The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) launched the pilot project of 'Samriddh Gram Phygital Services' in rural areas of three states: Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.
  •  It aims to bridge the digital divide by creating "Samriddhi Kendras" (integrated digital service hubs) in these villages. These centers leverage BharatNet connectivity to offer a range of services, including: Education and Skilling , Agriculture , Healthcare, e-Governance , E-Commerce and Financial Inclusion.

  • 1.The DoT launched the "National Broadband Mission (NBM) 2.0" and the "Sanchar Saathi App" on January 17, 2025, to improve digital connectivity and security.

  • In India, working-age females typically refer to those between 15 and 64 years old.
  • According to the latest annual Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the Female Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in India for 2023–2024 was 41.7%.
  •  The female unemployment rate has also declined, falling from 5.6% in 2017–18 to 3.2% in 2023–24
  • This represents a significant increase from 23.3% in 2017–2018.
  • Rural vs. urban divide: The rise in female LFPR has been more significant in rural areas compared to urban areas.
  • Rural: The LFPR for rural women grew from 24.6% in 2017–18 to 47.6% in 2023–24.
  • Urban: The LFPR for urban women saw a smaller increase, from 18.2% to 26.0% in the same period.

  • The share of women working as "helpers in household enterprises" rose from 9.1% to 19.6% between 2017–18 and 2023–24.
  • The percentage of rural women in agriculture rose from 71.1% in 2018–19 to 76.9% in 2023–24.

  • ਗ੍ਰਾਮੀਣ: ਗ੍ਰਾਮੀਣ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਐੱਲਐੱਫਪੀਆਰ 2017-18 ਵਿੱਚ 24.6٪ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਕੇ 2023-24 ਵਿੱਚ 47.6٪ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
  • ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ: ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ womenਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਐਲਐਫਪੀਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਵਾਧਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਇਸੇ ਮਿਆਦ ਵਿੱਚ 18.2٪ ਤੋਂ 26.0٪ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ.
  • 2017-18 ਅਤੇ 2023-24 ਦਰਮਿਆਨ "ਘਰੇਲੂ ਉੱਦਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ" ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਿੱਸੇਦਾਰੀ 9.1٪ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਕੇ 19.6٪ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
  • ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗ੍ਰਾਮੀਣ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤਤਾ 2018-19 ਵਿੱਚ 71.1٪ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਕੇ 2023-24 ਵਿੱਚ 76.9٪ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Punjab National Bank Became India's First Public Bank to Shift Corporate Website to '.bank.in' Domain

  • This move is in line with a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) directive, issued through a circular on April 22, 2025, aimed at strengthening cybersecurity within the banking sector.
  • This shift to a dedicated and secure domain aims to enhance protection against online frauds, phishing attacks, and other cyber threats, while also building greater trust in digital banking services for customers.
  • The '.bank.in' domain is exclusively reserved for banks, making it more difficult for fraudsters to create fake websites and deceive customers

RBI MPC Meeting 2025 Updates: RBI Holds Repo Rate At 5.5%; Doesn't See Major US Tariff Impact For India

  • Policy repo rate unchanged at 5.5% and retained its neutral stance even as it maintained growth forecast for FY26 at 6.5% and lowered inflation projection to 3.1% from its earlier estimate of 3.7%.
