India rises to ninth position globally in forest area, retains third position in annual forest gain / ਭਾਰਤ ਵਣ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਨੌਵੇਂ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ, ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਜੰਗਲਾਤ ਲਾਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੀਜਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ
- According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Global Forest Resources Assessment (GFRA) 2025, India has moved to ninth position globally in total forest area, up from tenth in the previous report.
- The report also confirms that India has retained its third-place ranking for annual net forest gain.
- With 72.74 million hectares of forest, India holds approximately 2% of the world's forests.
- Between 2015 and 2025, India's annual net forest gain was about 191,000 hectares.
- The top countries for annual gain were China and Russia.
- ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਸੰਗਠਨ (ਐਫਏਓ) ਦੇ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਜੰਗਲਾਤ ਸਰੋਤ ਮੁਲਾਂਕਣ (ਜੀਐਫਆਰਏ) 2025 ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਭਾਰਤ ਕੁੱਲ ਜੰਗਲਾਤ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਨੌਵੇਂ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸਵੇਂ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਸੀ।

- 72.74 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਹੈਕਟੇਅਰ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਭਾਰਤ ਕੋਲ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ 2٪ ਜੰਗਲ ਹਨ।
