  • The agreement, titled the "Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership," was signed by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on the sidelines of the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).
  • This new 2025 framework updates and replaces the previous framework agreement signed in June 2015.
  • Key aspects of this framework include
  • Expanding collaboration in co-production and co-development of advanced defence systems and technology transfer.
  • Enhancing coordination, information sharing, and military interoperability across land, air, sea, space, and cyberspace domains.
  • Reinforcing a joint commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region.
  • This platform for practical defence cooperation includes the 11 ASEAN member states and eight "Plus" countries:

  • ਇਹ ਨਵਾਂ 2025 ਫਰੇਮਵਰਕ ਜੂਨ 2015 ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਫਰੇਮਵਰਕ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਪਡੇਟ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਦਲਦਾ ਹੈ.

HAL signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a Russian firm for the production of SJ-100 civil aircraft in India / ਐੱਚਏਐੱਲ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਐੱਸਜੇ-100 ਸਿਵਲ ਏਅਰਕ੍ਰਾਫਟ ਦੇ ਉਤਪਾਦਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਰੂਸੀ ਫਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਤੀ ਪੱਤਰ 'ਤੇ ਹਸਤਾਖਰ ਕੀਤੇ

  • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russia's Public Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC-UAC) for the licensed production of the SJ-100 civil aircraft in India.
  •  The SJ-100 is a twin-engine, narrow-body regional jet designed for short-haul routes.
  • The project aligns with the Indian government's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) initiative and the UDAN scheme, aimed at enhancing regional air connectivity and boosting indigenous aerospace manufacturing and employment.
  • To manufacture the complete SJ-100 civil commuter aircraft in India for domestic customers, marking the country's first full passenger aircraft production since the AVRO HS-748 program (1961–1988).

ISRO Signed 100th Technology Transfer with HAL for SSLV Production

ISRO signed its 100th technology transfer agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to enable independent production of Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs).

A 3-stage, cost-effective launch vehicle designed for deploying small satellites.

Size: About 2 meters wide and 34 meters tall – roughly the height of an 11-storey building.

Weight: Around 120 tonnes at liftoff.

Payload Capacity: Can carry up to 500 kg of satellites into a 500 km orbit – suitable for small satellites.

BHEL Inks 10-Year Exclusive Deal with Horizon Fuel Cell

  • Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) signed a 10-year exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore-based Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies to develop and commercialize hydrogen fuel cell-based trains for the Indian market.
  • The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission technology in India's railway sector and complements the government's National Green Hydrogen Mission.
  •  The fuel cell trains will generate electricity from hydrogen, producing only water vapor and heat as byproducts. This offers a clean alternative to diesel-powered locomotives.

India, EAEU Sign ToR to Begin Free Trade Agreement Negotiations

  • India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), have signed the Terms of Reference (ToR) to launch negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
  • The agreement, signed in Moscow on August 20, 2025, sets the framework for the negotiations, aiming to boost trade, expand market access for goods and services, diversify exports, support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and strengthen economic ties between India and the EAEU.
  • The EAEU was established by the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union signed on May 29, 2014.
  • HQ – MOSCOW , RUSSIA
  • The EAEU is a Russia-led economic bloc formed on January 1, 2015, composed of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Russian Federation.
  • It represents a single market with a combined GDP of over $2.5 trillion and a population of roughly 183 million people.
