- P. V. Narasimha Rao was the 9th Prime Minister of India, serving from 1991 to 1996.
- He is widely regarded as the "Father of Indian Economic Reforms" for initiating major liberalization policies in 1991 during an economic crisis. As Prime Minister, he appointed Dr. Manmohan Singh as Finance Minister.

- President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, conferred National Awards on teachers at a function held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi
- 81 teachers were honored across various educational sectors. Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of Rs. 50,000 and a silver medal.
- Narinder Singh, a head teacher at Government Primary School, Jandiali in Ludhiana district., was the sole recipient from Punjab for the 2025 awards.

- An Indian non-profit organisation, ‘Foundation to Educate Girls Globally’, dedicated to mobilise community and government resources for girls’ education in rural and educationally disadvantaged areas of India, has been named a 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee.
- The Foundation, widely known as Educate Girls, is the first Indian organisation to receive the prestigious award, which is considered Asia’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize.
- The Foundation, started in Rajasthan, was founded in 2007 by Safeena Husain.
- Other 2025 winners include Shaahina Ali from the Maldives for her environmental work and Flaviano Antonio L. Villanueva from the Philippines.

- A self-help group (SHG) from a small village in Kundgol taluk of Dharwad district has bagged the ‘Equator Initiative Award’ given by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which is also referred to as the Nobel Prize for Biodiversity Conservation.
- The Bibi Fatima Women’s Self-Help Group is one among the 10 winners of the Equator Prize 2025.
- The awards were announced on International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples and are presented annually to honour nature-based solutions led by indigenous people and local communities
