- The 20th East Asia Summit (EAS), held in Kuala Lumpur, adopted the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on the Twentieth Anniversary of the East Asia Summit.
- The declaration reaffirmed the commitment of the 18 participating nations to peace, stability, and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
- The declaration called for the continued implementation of the EAS Plan of Action (2024-2028) to advance practical cooperation in priority areas like environment, energy, education, finance, health issues, and disaster management.

Members: The EAS is a key forum for strategic dialogue in the Indo-Pacific region, involving 19 countries, including ASEAN members.
The EAS is usually held alongside ASEAN Leaders' meetings in the fourth quarter of every year.

- National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval participated in the third India-Central Asia National Security Advisers' meeting in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic.
- The meeting emphasized the importance of security and stability in Afghanistan for the entire region and agreed to work closely with Afghanistan on security and connectivity challenges.
- The NSAs discussed cooperation on pressing security challenges such as terrorism, radicalization, extremism, and narcotics trafficking.
- The scope of cooperation was broadened to include areas such as digital connectivity, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and space technology.

Joint declaration was made between India and Brazil to strengthen the MERCOSUR-India trade agreement
- MERCOSUR is a South American trade bloc established to promote free trade and the fluid movement of goods, services, capital, and people among its member nations.
- It was founded in 1991 by the Treaty of Asunción.
- Full members: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia.
- Bolivia gained full membership in July 2024.
- Headquarters - Montevideo, Uruguay
- Official languages - Spanish and Portuguese.
- Expansion of India trade deal: In October 2025, India and Brazil announced plans to expand their existing Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with MERCOSUR to promote trade and investment.
- The leaders set an ambitious goal to increase bilateral merchandise trade to $20 billion over the next five years, up from $12.19 billion in 2024–25.
- This will make Brazil India's largest trading partner in Latin America.
