About Ningaloo Reef
- It is located on Western Australia‘s remote coast along the East Indian Ocean.
- It is Australia’s largest fringing coral reef, extending across 300 kilometres of coastline.
- One of the world’s most pristine, longest, largest coral reefs.
- The reef sustains both temperate and tropical marine life, including mammals and reptiles. It has about 250 corals, of which 200 are hard coral species.
- It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- ਇਹ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਹਿੰਦ ਮਹਾਂਸਾਗਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਦੂਰ-ਦੁਰਾਡੇ ਤੱਟ 'ਤੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਹੈ।
- ਇਹ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਫਰਿੰਜਿੰਗ ਕੋਰਲ ਰੀਫ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ 300 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਤੱਟਵਰਤੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
- ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਕੋਰਲ ਰੀਫਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ।
- ਇਹ ਰੀਫ ਸਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਰਮ ਖੰਡੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਥਣਧਾਰੀ ਜਾਨਵਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਪ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗਭਗ 250 ਕੋਰਲ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 200 ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕੋਰਲ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

- Up to 10 years if the offender hides an existing marriage
- Repeat offenders → punishment doubled.
- Priests/qazis who knowingly conduct such marriages get fine up to ₹1.5 lakh.
- Village heads, qazis, parents, guardians involved also liable.
- Anyone who hides/delays information to police get up to 2 years jail & ₹1 lakh fine.

- Scheduled Tribes (under Article 342) exempt.
- Not applicable in Sixth Schedule areas: Bodoland Territorial Region ; Dima Hasao ; Karbi Anglong & West Karbi Anglong

ਸਜ਼ਾ:
- 7 ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ + ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ
- ਜੇਕਰ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ 10 ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ▪ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ → ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੁੱਗਣੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
- ਜਾਣਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ/ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ₹1.5 ਲੱਖ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ, ਕਾਜ਼ੀ, ਮਾਪੇ, ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਹਨ।
- ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਉਂਦਾ/ਦੇਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ 2 ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਅਤੇ ₹1 ਲੱਖ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
