Joint declaration was made between India and Brazil to strengthen the MERCOSUR-India trade agreement
- MERCOSUR is a South American trade bloc established to promote free trade and the fluid movement of goods, services, capital, and people among its member nations.
- It was founded in 1991 by the Treaty of Asunción.
- Full members: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia.
- Bolivia gained full membership in July 2024.
- Headquarters - Montevideo, Uruguay
- Official languages - Spanish and Portuguese.
- Expansion of India trade deal: In October 2025, India and Brazil announced plans to expand their existing Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with MERCOSUR to promote trade and investment.
- The leaders set an ambitious goal to increase bilateral merchandise trade to $20 billion over the next five years, up from $12.19 billion in 2024–25.
- This will make Brazil India's largest trading partner in Latin America.

- ਦੋਹਾਂ ਲੀਡਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੁਵੱਲੇ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਵਪਾਰ ਨੂੰ 2024-25 ਦੇ 12.19 ਬਿਲੀਅਨ ਡਾਲਰ ਤੋਂ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ 20 ਬਿਲੀਅਨ ਡਾਲਰ ਤੱਕ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਆਕਾਂਖੀ ਟੀਚਾ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
- ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਬ੍ਰਾਜ਼ੀਲ ਲਾਤੀਨੀ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਭਾਈਵਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
