The Mercer CFA Institute - Global Pension Index 2025, released in October 2025, benchmarks the retirement income systems of 52 countries.
India ranked last on the index, receiving a D-grade with an overall score of 43.8 alongside Türkiye, the Philippines, Thailand, and Argentina.
The countries with the highest-ranked pension systems, all receiving an A-grade, were:
1.Netherlands: Scored 85.4,
2.Iceland: Scored 84.0.
3.Denmark: Scored 82.3.
4.Singapore: Scored 80.8, becoming the first Asian country to achieve an A-grade.
