ਜਸਟਿਸ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਕਾਂਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ 53ਵੇਂ ਚੀਫ਼ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਬਣਨਗੇ
- According to the recommendation made by the current Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai, Justice Surya Kant is set to become the 53rd Chief Justice of India.
- The appointment is expected to take effect on November 24, 2025.
- Tenure: His term as Chief Justice is expected to last for approximately 15 months, until his retirement on February 9, 2027.
- Upon taking office, he will become the first Chief Justice of India to hail from Haryana.
- During his judicial career, he has been part of several significant rulings, including: The 2023 verdict that upheld the abrogation of Article 370.
- ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਚੀਫ਼ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਬੀਆਰ ਗਵਈ ਦੀ ਸਿਫਾਰਿਸ਼ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਸੂਰਿਆ ਕਾਂਤ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ 53ਵੇਂ ਚੀਫ਼ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਬਣਨ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
- ਇਹ ਨਿਯੁਕਤੀ 24 ਨਵੰਬਰ, 2025 ਤੋਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ।
- ਕਾਰਜਕਾਲ: ਚੀਫ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜਕਾਲ ਲਗਭਗ 15 ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਿਟਾਇਰਮੈਂਟ 9 ਫਰਵਰੀ, 2027 ਤੱਕ ਹੈ।
- ਅਹੁਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਉਹ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਚੀਫ਼ ਜਸਟਿਸ ਬਣਨਗੇ।
