Shri Sanjay Garg assumed charge as Director General of the Bureau of Indian Standards / ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਸੰਜੇ ਗਰਗ ਨੇ ਬਿਊਰੋ ਆਵ੍ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਸਟੈਂਡਰਡਜ਼ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਜਨਰਲ ਦਾ ਅਹੁਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ
- The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the National Standards Body of India, established under the BIS Act, 2016, and operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
- BIS is the national hallmarking authority for precious metal articles like gold and silver jewellery, which has been made mandatory to protect consumers and ensure purity.
- BIS formulates and publishes Indian Standards (IS).
- These standards aim to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
- BIS operates a product certification scheme, allowing manufacturers to use the ISI Mark (Indian Standards Institution Mark) on their products as an assurance of conformity to Indian Standards.
- ਬਿਊਰੋ ਆਵ੍ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਸਟੈਂਡਰਡਜ਼ (ਬੀਆਈਐੱਸ) ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਬੀਆਈਐੱਸ ਐਕਟ, 2016 ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖਪਤਕਾਰ ਮਾਮਲੇ, ਖੁਰਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਜਨਤਕ ਵੰਡ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
- ਬੀਆਈਐਸ ਸੋਨੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਧਾਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਹਾਲਮਾਰਕਿੰਗ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਪਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
- ਬੀਆਈਐਸ ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਸਟੈਂਡਰਡਜ਼ (ਆਈਐਸ) ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਆਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ, ਗੁਣਵੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਸ਼ਲਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।
- ਬੀਆਈਐਸ ਇੱਕ ਉਤਪਾਦ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੀਕਰਣ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਚਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਕੂਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਆਈਐਸਆਈ ਮਾਰਕ (ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਸਟੈਂਡਰਡਜ਼ ਇੰਸਟੀਚਿਊਸ਼ਨ ਮਾਰਕ) ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
