New Semi-Aquatic Spider Species Dolomedes indicus Found in Western Ghats \ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਘਾਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਨਵੀਂ ਅਰਧ-ਜਲ ਮੱਕੜੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਡੋਲੋਮੇਡੀਜ਼ ਇੰਡੀਕਸ
- Dolomedes indicus is a newly identified spider species.
- Discovered in the evergreen rainforests of the Western Ghats, specifically Wayanad district, Kerala.
- This is the first-ever species of the Dolomedes genus (raft/fishing spiders) recorded in India.
- Unlike passive web-building house spiders, it is an active, semi-aquatic predator that hunts using water surface tension.

- ਪੱਛਮੀ ਘਾਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਦਾਬਹਾਰ ਵਰਖਾ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਖਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੇਰਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਾਇਨਾਡ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ।।
- ਇਹ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਡੋਲੋਮੇਡੀਜ਼ ਜੀਨਸ (ਬੇੜਾ/ਮੱਛੀ ਫੜਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮੱਕੜੀਆਂ) ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਤੀ ਹੈ।
- ਪੈਸਿਵ ਵੈੱਬ-ਬਿਲਡਿੰਗ ਹਾਊਸ ਮੱਕੜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ, ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਸਰਗਰਮ, ਅਰਧ-ਜਲ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸਤ੍ਹਾ ਤਣਾਅ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
