- The United States reportedly captured Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela, following a large-scale strike.
- Operation Absolute Resolve (executed in the early hours of 3 January 2026) was described as a major US military mission aimed at capturing Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and bringing them into US custody.
- The US cited migration, drug trafficking, and “narcoterrorism” as the primary reasons for action against Venezuela and Nicolás Maduro.
