India Develops 3D-Printed Automatic Weather Stations under Mission Mausam / ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ 3D-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਟਿਡ ਆਟੋਮੈਟਿਕ ਮੌਸਮ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕੀਤੇ
- India has developed next-generation 3D-printed Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) to strengthen its weather monitoring system.
- The first batch will be deployed in Delhi from February 2026, marking a significant upgrade in the country’s weather observation and forecasting network.
Institution & Programme Details
- The initiative is being led by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM).
- It is implemented under the Ministry of Earth Sciences as part of Mission Mausam.
- Mission Mausam is a ₹2,000-crore national programme aimed at modernising and upgrading India’s meteorological infrastructure.
Key Objectives of Mission Mausam
- Eliminate data gaps in weather observations
- Focus on urban areas and climate-sensitive regions
- Improve accuracy of weather forecasts
- Strengthen disaster preparedness and climate resilience
- ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਗਲੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੇ 3D-ਪ੍ਰਿੰਟਿਡ ਆਟੋਮੈਟਿਕ ਮੌਸਮ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ (AWS) ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।
- ਪਹਿਲਾ ਬੈਚ ਫਰਵਰੀ 2026 ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਜੋ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਨਿਰੀਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਅਪਗ੍ਰੇਡ ਹੈ।
ਸੰਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵੇਰਵੇ
- ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਟ੍ਰੋਪਿਕਲ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਸੰਸਥਾ (IITM) ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
- ਇਹ ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
- ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੌਸਮ ਇੱਕ ₹2,000 ਕਰੋੜ ਦਾ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਧੁਨਿਕੀਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਗ੍ਰੇਡ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼
- ਮੌਸਮ ਨਿਰੀਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੇਟਾ ਪਾੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨਾ
- ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਵਾਯੂ-ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ
- ਮੌਸਮ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁੱਧਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ
- ਆਫ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਵਾਯੂ ਲਚਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨਾ
