RBI Governor Chairs First Meeting of the Payments Regulatory Board / RBI ਗਵਰਨਰ ਪੇਮੈਂਟਸ ਰੈਗੂਲੇਟਰੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
- The first meeting of the Payments Regulatory Board was held under the chairmanship of Reserve Bank Governor Sanjay Malhotra in Mumbai on January 5.
- During its first meeting, the PRB reviewed the functioning of the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems within the RBI. The Board examined current focus areas covering both domestic and global payment systems, reflecting India’s growing role in international digital payments.
- The Payments Regulatory Board is a statutory body constituted following an amendment to the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007. Which came into effect on May 9, 2025.
- ਪੇਮੈਂਟਸ ਰੈਗੂਲੇਟਰੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ 5 ਜਨਵਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੰਬਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਜ਼ਰਵ ਬੈਂਕ ਦੇ ਗਵਰਨਰ ਸੰਜੇ ਮਲਹੋਤਰਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਹੇਠ ਹੋਈ।
- ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ, PRB ਨੇ RBI ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦੋਬਸਤ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਮੀਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ। ਬੋਰਡ ਨੇ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਅਤੇ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਵਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਫੋਕਸ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਡਿਜੀਟਲ ਭੁਗਤਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀ ਵਧ ਰਹੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
- ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਰੈਗੂਲੇਟਰੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਪਟਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਐਕਟ, 2007 ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸੋਧ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਗਠਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕਿ 9 ਮਈ, 2025 ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
