The collection includes works in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia, and Tamil, along with a sign-language series of the Tirukkural by Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar.
In 2024, the Modi government granted classical language status to five additional languages—Marathi, Pali, Prakrit, Assamese, and Bengali—taking the total to 11 classical languages in India.
Earlier, six languages—Tamil, Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Odia—were accorded classical status during the period 2004–2024.
