Article 217(1) – Appointment and conditions of office of a Judge of a High Court.
Every Judge of a High Court (including the Chief Justice) is appointed by the President of India.
Appointment is made after consultation with the Chief Justice of India (CJI), the Governor of the State, and in case of appointment of a Judge other than the Chief Justice, also the Chief Justice of the concerned High Court.
