Engineers India Limited established India's first bamboo-based biorefinery in Assam
- Engineers India Limited (EIL) successfully completed the mechanical work for India's first bamboo-based biorefinery, which was established in Numaligarh, Assam.
- It is the first project of its kind in India to produce second-generation (2G) bioethanol from ligno-cellulosic biomass, specifically using bamboo as its primary feedstock.
- The biorefinery aims to boost the supply of ethanol for India's Ethanol Blending Program and support rural economies by creating a market for local bamboo farmers.
